London Calling

I don’t like seeing people hit London. Chewing gum on the floor, litter, seats torn on buses, smashed windows. This weekends riots are, and here we all stand united, frankly disgusting.

Protests & demonstrations, when peaceful and in support of noble and worthy causes, have my full support. Those that are passionate enough to stand for what they truly believe in have my respect when it’s conducted in this manner.

The people who effectively attacked their own communities, the shops that provide jobs, the houses that provide shelter. I am left quite speechless. I hope those that rioted feel shame and guilt, but I doubt they will. What I do know is that the vast, overwhelming majority of people who love this city will want those areas affected to be healed as soon as possible.

Open House London 2011 launches today. I am sitting here pouring over the buildings that are flinging their doors open. That a lot of the pre-book sites were full up within minutes of the booking site opening is a reminder that people really do love and cherish this city.

Below is my mixtape to this city, click Spotify to play. Get well soon!
